Terms

The terms listed below are related to the Guide Me aid and product. Throughout the guide acronyms have expanded terms for assistance.

Term	Description
API	Application Programming Interface.
Coupon	See promotional code.
Current Hit	The Hit is currently being interrogated for matching data.
Dimension	A Dimension defines how data is segmented.
Dimension Group	Historical term, same as report group.
DMS	A system administrative function Discover Management Service or Discover Services Manager.
DNCA Server	The Discover Network Capture Application server.
Endpoint	Referred to in the SDK as the URL to which visitor session data is sent.
Event	A Discover component that executes, and optionally stores values, when criteria are met using Hit, STEP or Session Attributes.
HA	See Hit Attribute
HBR Server	Health Based Router. Discover routing / balancing server.
Hit	Term to describe the item line show in Replay that can include Request / Response data available for event building.
Hit Attribute	A Hit Attribute describes the format of the data identified within a session and available within the Response and Request document for event building.
Load Balancer	A software (can be hardware) component of the network that distributes data between downstream systems, for Discover this is typically the DNCA.
OoO	Out of Order. Typically relating to Hits within a visitor's session.
Pipeline	Pipeline defines the order in which Discover components are applied to data streams, for example visitor session data traversing through the Discover solution DNCA, HBR, Canisters and Reporting/Portal server.
Processing Server	The server responsible for processing events for visitor sessions.
Portal	See Reporting Server
Promotional Code	Text provided to visitor/customer, which may include numbers or non-alphabetical characters used to discount overall price paid online
Report Group	Assigned group of dimensions to provide segmentation.
Reporting Server	The server hosting business user dashboards / reports.
REQ	Request -- See Response/Request.
Response/Request	Visitor session payload data document or buffer.
RSP	Response -- See Response/Request.
Sandbox	An environment within HCL SoFy that provides access to a unique instance of Discover.
SDK	Software Development Kit. Often referred to as the discoverUI.js file.
SQL	Structured Query Language. Associated with the database server.
STEP Attribute	A JSON notated message available only in the Request document / buffer used for event building.
UIC	UI (User Interface) Capture. Same as the SDK foDiscover.
