System requirements

Attention

The HCL Connections System Requirements and Kubernetes Runtime documentation have been updated to provide clearer guidance on supported packages. The System Requirements now focus solely on the Connections Server, while the Kubernetes Runtime documentation—now titled Kubernetes Runtime and Component Pack Middleware—covers all Kubernetes environment and Component Pack requirements.

Updated TinyMCE Editor

An updated release of the TinyMCE Editor is available with Connections 8.0 CR15. To install, refer to Installing and configuring Tiny Editors for HCL Connections.

Mail policy plugin updates for profile image support

Users can now include profile images in enhanced email notifications in HCL Connections by updating a single property in the notification-config.xml file.

Connections Engagement Center (WebEngine)

HCL Connections 8.0 CR15 introduces support for Connections Engagement Center (WebEngine), which provides a modernized user interface and enhanced capabilities for creating and managing engagement centers. This new version of the Engagement Center is designed to improve user experience and streamline the process of building and maintaining engagement centers.

Upcoming Features

The following features are planned for future interim releases of HCL Connections. These features are not available in the current release, but they provide insight into the direction of the product.

Collabora Online

HCL Connections 8.0 CR15 introduces support for Collabora Online, bringing an enterprise-grade, high-fidelity document editing experience to the Files application. Serving as a modern alternative to HCL Docs, Collabora Online enables real-time viewing and co-authoring of office documents directly in your browser.

Built on a flexible containerized architecture, Collabora Online deploys directly within your own sovereign, self-hosted infrastructure (on-premises or private cloud)—ensuring total control over your data. Deploying CR15 provides the required technical foundation for this feature; add-on entitlement will become available to purchase shortly following the CR15 release.
