Deleting promotions and subfolders from a folder
You can improve the organization of your store promotions by deleting promotions or subfolders from parent folders.
Beginning with Feature Pack 6, you can use Management Center to
delete promotions or subfolders from a parent folder.
You can use Management Center to
delete only promotions from parent folders. To delete a subfolder
from a parent folder, a Site Administrator must use SQL statements.
For more information, see Deleting promotion folders.
Before you begin
Before you delete a folder, you must delete or move any subfolders in the folder. You can have a developer configure your folders so that you can delete a folder that has subfolders. Then, when you delete a folder, you also delete the subfolders and any objects within both the folder and any subfolders. Only the references to the objects are deleted. The objects continue to exist in your system, and in any other folder the object is included within. For more information about this configuration option, see Configuration properties in the infrastructure component.
If you can delete folders with subfolders and
you are working in an asset store, do not delete folders that might
contain a subfolder that belongs to an extended site store. If you are using extended sites,
ensure that you understand how folders work in extended sites. For
more information, see Folders in extended sites.
About this task
An administrator can enable the
Promotions tool to not display promotions that are in a folder in
the main Promotions - List view. When this configuration
is enabled, promotions that are in a folder do not display in the
list of promotions for your store. When you remove a promotion from
a folder and the promotion is not in any other folders, the promotion
can display in the main Promotions - List again.
When you delete the folder, the promotions that were in that folder
and are not in any other folders can display in the main Promotions
- List again. For more information, see Organizing promotions with folders.
