Managing Inventory file uploads

Upload your inventory information directly to the Inventory via the upload feature within the Inventory dashboard. The inventory information contained in your upload is then consumed and applied to your live inventory, or scheduled for future application. The process is not instantaneous, but can be monitored, audited, or canceled if pending.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that you understand your organization's inventory management system and its related procedures before using the Inventory dashboard to upload inventory-related data.
  • Ensure that you have a login provided to you that is assigned the Site Administrator role. This role is required to access the Inventory dashboard.
  • Review Administering Inventory data uploads for an overview on uploading catalog and inventory data.

About this task

Use the inventory file upload to manually load SKU data, or update the available SKU inventory levels at your Inventory Locations.

Procedure

  1. Customize your file upload to contain new or updated inventory-related data.
    Review the following topics to select and build the correct file template for the file upload procedure.
  2. Open the Inventory dashboard.
  3. Upload your inventory file.
    1. Select Upload.
      The Upload File window is displayed.
    2. Drag and drop, or Select File and select the inventory file that you want to upload.
      The file is displayed on the window and can be identified by file name. It can be confirmed or removed before proceeding.
    3. Optional: Select Schedule Upload to initiate the consumption of the file contents at a later date or time.
      Enter a future date and/or time that you want to processing of the file to begin.
      Note: Scheduled jobs can be canceled before the time and date that processing begins.
    4. Select Upload.
      The Upload File window is closed. A new job is created and displayed within the Upload History table.
  4. Monitor and verify the file upload job.
    The uploaded inventory data is processed and applied to your Commerce+ inventory a short time after processing is initiated. A processing indicator is displayed as the changes within the file are applied. Once complete, verify that the State column for the associated job reports Successful to ensure that the process completed as expected.

    You can confirm that the upload was successful, or troubleshoot failed uploads by downloading the associated job report. Select Download under the Actions column menu.

Results

Your inventory is now manually updated with the contents of your file upload.
