Inventory locations

Inventory Locations are the foundational elements of your inventory infrastructure. They represent locations where inventory is stored, managed, fulfilled, or transacted.

Inventory Locations are defined by a handful of unique attributes within the Inventory. These attributes describe their various features, and the way that they can interact within the inventory solution for your organization.

Attribute	Description
IL Code	The IL Code is a six digit alphanumeric code that is unique to each Inventory Location. This is used internally to the Inventory to identify the Inventory Location, but can also be useful if used elsewhere, for example, shipping manifests or invoices. An example of an IL Code is `APLZ20`.
IL Type	Inventory Location Types are the general categories of Inventory Locations that you can create within your organization. Naturally, they can drastically vary based on the type of business that you are in. They are fully customizable, and aid in filtering and identification throughout the Inventory dashboard interface. Inventory Location types can be used to conceptualize certain features and restrictions that are inherent to your inventory infrastructure and your business as a whole. For example, a warehouse or distribution center might contain a larger breadth and depth of inventory for a greater geographic region, but might not have a storefront or the ability for end-users to pick up ordered goods. Some examples of IL Types include `Online store` `Physical store`, `Factory` or `Vending Machine`.
Status	The Status of an Inventory Location defines whether it is available for use, or if it has otherwise been decommissioned, or shut, temporarily or permanently.
Delivery Methods	Delivery Methods define the means by which inventory can be exchanged with end-users. Each method can define its various features, limitations, or considerations. Some examples of Delivery Methods include `In-store pickup`, `Standard mail`, `Courier service`, or `Next day delivery`.
Contacts	Contacts define the individuals in your organization that are responsible for each Inventory Location. An Inventory Location must have a contact associated with it so that the responsible party can be communicated with. Each Inventory Location is limited to a single contact.

The Inventory Location listing page provides a full overview of your various Inventory Locations and their various attributes. From here you can set their active status, modify their attributes, or delete them.
