Creating marketing content for text (SMS) messages

Create the content of a text (SMS) message so that you can include it in a dialog activity that uses the Send Message action to send a text message to a customer.

Procedure

  1. Open Commerce Lab Tools, and from the left navigation menu, click Business Tools > Marketing > Content.
  2. Content List page opens. Click Create Content to create a new marketing content. Add New Content page opens.
  3. Enter the properties of the content as follows:

    Name Enter a name to identify the text message. You must specify this name when you create the dialog activity to send the message.
    Content type Select Text message for mobile device.
    Text Enter the text message.

    The standard maximum length of a single text (SMS) message using the Latin alphabet is 160 characters, including spaces and punctuation. If your message is longer, the message is either truncated or sent as multiple messages. The outcome depends on your SMS gateway service and how your site is configured for SMS messaging. Talk to your Site Administrator for more information.

  4. Click Finish. The marketing content for text (SMS) message is created and listed on the Content List page.

What to do next

Create a dialog activity that includes the Send Message action for sending text messages to a customer. When you complete the properties for the Send Message action, specify the text message content that you created in this task.
