Listing attributes in the attribute dictionary

You can view all of the attributes that are contained within an attribute dictionary by opening the Attribute Dictionary-Attributes list view. Use the Attribute Dictionary-Attributes list view to display a list of the attributes and view details for a specified attribute, such as the description or data type of the attribute.

Procedure

  1. Open the Catalogs tool.
  2. HCL Commerce Version 9.1.16.0 or later Open Management Center tools and from the left navigation menu, click Business Tools > Catalog > Master Catalog.
  3. From the explorer view filter, select Attribute Dictionary to display all of the attributes that are contained within the attribute dictionary in the Attribute Dictionary-Attributes list view.

    The following attributes are displayed by default:

    PropertyDescription
    Sequence The order in which the attribute is displayed. Numbers are displayed in ascending order.
    Type An icon that represents the type of business object. Attributes can be predefined value or assigned value attributes. This field is read-only.
    Code The unique identifier for the attribute.
    Name The language-specific name of the attribute.
    Data type The data type of the attribute. The following data types are available for attributes:
    • Text
    • Whole number
    • Decimal number
    This field is read-only.
    Displayable Select this check box to specify that the attribute is displayable. There is no underlying logic associated with this field; use the field as a custom check box to meet your attribute needs.
    Comparable Select this check box to specify that the attribute is comparable; clear the check box to specify that the attribute is not comparable. There is no underlying logic associated with this field; use the field as a custom check box to meet your attribute needs. This field is hidden by default.
    Use in merchandising
    Select this check box to specify that this attribute can be used as a merchandising attribute in the creation of search conditions for use by any of the following objects:
    • Marketing activities for finding catalog entries to recommend to customers in e-Marketing Spots.

      Merchandising attributes can also be used in search conditions within a marketing activity to identify a current page target.

    • Search rules for finding catalog entries.
    • Sales and rule-based categories for finding catalog entries to assign to the categories.
    Only attributes with predefined values can be used as merchandising attributes. An attribute that is identified as for 'Use in merchandising' is intended for internal business use to create these rules and activities. By default, these merchandising attributes do not affect customer searches. If you set a merchandising attribute to be displayable, searchable, or for use in faceted navigation, then the attribute can appear on your storefront.
    Searchable in storefront Select this check box to specify that customers can search for this attribute on the storefront. To reset this attribute, you must clear the Use in facted navigation check box as well as the Searchable in storefront box.
    Use in faceted navigation Selecting this check box makes the attribute usable in the Search Criteria and Result target in marketing activities and search rules.
  4. The following attributes can be displayed by right-clicking on the column heading and selecting Configure Columns.

    Unique ID The unique reference number of the attribute. This field is read-only.
    Description A language-specific short description for the attribute.
    Secondary Description An additional language-specific description for the attribute.
    Unit of Measure A language-specific field to specify the unit of measure that is used for the attribute.
    Note A language-specific field to store auxiliary data about an attribute, such as a footnote.
    Associated Keyword The keyword of the attribute group that this attribute is associated with. For subscription attributes, this field denotes the attribute as a subscription attribute.
