Integrating the BigFix Scanner DEX Plugin
This is an endpoint component. This is a plugin for the BigFix Scanner that enables all DEX use cases. Therefore, it is critical that the BigFix Scanner is already deployed on all endpoints that are intended to be DEX-enabled, as the plugin depends on the scanner’s presence to work correctly.

        Installing MS SQL
        BigFix DEX relies on an enterprise database backend to aggregate, process, and retain metrics. For this purpose, the architecture requires Microsoft SQL Server to be installed to manage and store logs and scores.

        Integrating the BigFix Root Server DEX Plugin
        This plugin integrates the BigFix Root Server with DEX components for data forwarding and management. As the name suggests, this component is applicable only on the Root Server.
        Integrating the BigFix Scanner DEX Plugin
        This is an endpoint component. This is a plugin for the BigFix Scanner that enables all DEX use cases. Therefore, it is critical that the BigFix Scanner is already deployed on all endpoints that are intended to be DEX-enabled, as the plugin depends on the scanner’s presence to work correctly.

        The BigFix Self-Service Application (SSA) is a client-side interface that empowers endpoint users to install software, accept administrative actions, and review deployments without requiring local administrator privileges.

Integrating the BigFix Scanner DEX Plugin

This is an endpoint component. This is a plugin for the BigFix Scanner that enables all DEX use cases. Therefore, it is critical that the BigFix Scanner is already deployed on all endpoints that are intended to be DEX-enabled, as the plugin depends on the scanner’s presence to work correctly.

Note: The DEX Scanner Plugin (#103-DEX-(11.0.43.1)-Install or Upgrade Scanner Fixlet under the DEX site) must be deployed before installing the scanner plugin. Do not use the Scanner site for this step. This fixlet is a temporary measure until an officially supported scanner is published under the Scanner site, at which point the DEX site reference will be retired.

Install the Scanner plugin using the #24-Install BigFix Scanner DEX Plugin (WIN) or #45-Install BigFix Scanner DEX Plugin (MacOS) Fixlet, on machines where the BigFix Scanner is deployed.

Note: It requires BigFix Agent version 11.0.6 or higher on Windows platforms and BigFix Agent version 11.0.6 or higher on mac OS based platforms.

The minimum version of Scanner should be >= "11.0.41.1".

The Scanner DEX plugin is applicable only to client endpoints of type Windows 10/11 workstations; it collects DEX-related scan data (such as DEX metrics) and computes the DEX scores based on the anomalies that are detected from the scanned metrics.

The log trace settings can be changed using the Fixlet, #35-Configure DEX Scanner Plugin and Scanner Log Trace Settings (WIN), where settings like enable log, log level, max each log file size, and max number of backup files can be updated.
