Scenario 2: Creating a catalog filter based on categories
This scenario shows you how to create a catalog filter based on categories. When a category is included in a catalog filter, all the catalog entries and child categories under this category are also included. When a category is excluded in a catalog filter, all the catalog entries and child categories under this category are also excluded.
In this scenario, you create a catalog filter that includes all the catalog entries in the following categories: Nuts and Bolts. You exclude the catalog entries from Screws.
Planning the catalog filter
Identify which
categories, catalog entries, catalog entry properties, or attribute
dictionary attributes to include or exclude from your catalog. In
this scenario, you include two categories in the catalog filter and
exclude one.

Creating the catalog filter
- Open Management Center tools and from the hamburger menu, click .
- Open Management Center tools and from the left navigation menu, click .
- From the toolbar, click the arrow or the right side of Create new button; then select Catalog Filter. The properties view displays.
- In the General Information section, specify a name and description for the catalog filter.
- Add the categories to the catalog filter.
- Expand the Filter by Categories, Attributes, and Properties section.
- To include the Nuts category using the Categories tree view.
- Right-click the Nuts category, and then click Include.
- Repeat the previous step to add the Bolts category to the catalog filter.
- To exclude the Screws category, right-click the Screws category, and then click Exclude.
- Click Save and Close.
