  This guide explains how to install, configure, maintain, and use the IVR v.5 service. It also summarizes the full workflow for IVR v.5, from installing the IVR Retriever to remediating vulnerabilities from the BigFix UI.

    IVR v.5 connects vulnerability detection to remediation. It retrieves vulnerability findings from your scanner, matches them with BigFix Fixlets and devices, and lets you deploy the fix from the same screen where you review the finding. You do all of this in the BigFix UI.

IVR logs

This section describes the IVR logs.

The logs are in C:\Program Files (x86)\BigFix Enterprise\BESIvrRetriever\data\logs.

AppConfig.log

This log lists the application configuration and settings that IVR used at runtime during the last run, and is updated when you modify AppConfig.yaml while the application is running.

Important:

IVR writes this log only when the application runs with the --printconfig flag. This requirement prevents unintentional disclosure of settings.

ivrn.log

This is the main application log. Debug (verbose) logging is off by default. To turn it on, set LogVerbose to true in the Settings section of AppConfig.yaml.

When the file reaches its maximum size (set in AppConfig.yaml), the log rotates: IVR adds the date and time to the current ivrn.log file name and starts a new ivrn.log.

Note:

When the BigFix UI reports a configuration or automation error, check the BigFix UI logs as well as the IVR logs.
