v2.1.7+Opening definitions in a canvas workspace

Use the Library context menu to open a workflow or task definition in the Graphical Designer for visual editing, dependency mapping, and canvas-based design work.

Before you begin

To open a definition in a canvas workspace, you must have at least view access to the item and the permissions required to create a new workspace.

Procedure

  1. In the UI, select Design, and then select the Library tab.
  2. Navigate to the folder containing the workflow or task definition you want to open.
  3. Right-click the definition and select Open in canvas from the context menu.
A new canvas workspace opens in the Graphical Designer with the selected definition loaded. The Library view remains available through the Library tab.

Results

The definition is loaded into a newly created workspace. You can now edit it visually, add dependencies, adjust layout, and deploy changes from the canvas.

What to do next

Open in canvas always creates a new workspace. Targeting an existing active workspace is not supported — to merge Library changes into an open workspace, use the Workspace Merge function after saving your edits to the database. For details, see Managing your workspaces.
