Hijacking files

Hijack a file when you need to modify it when you cannot connect to a server.

Procedure

Note: You can hijack files only in a Web view, automatic view, or snapshot view. You cannot modify a version in a Dynamic view until you check it out.
To hijack one or more files:
  1. Select the files that you want to hijack.
Use the VersionVault Details view, VersionVault Search Results view, or the VersionVault Version Tree view. If you are working in the Eclipse environment, use any Eclipse view that supports the Team context menu.
  2. To open the Hijack dialog box, click the hijack file icon icon on the VersionVault toolbar, or take one of the following actions:
    • Select Hijack from the context menu in the VersionVault Details view.
    • In the Eclipse environment, select Hijack from the Team context menu.
    • In the VersionVault Version Tree view, right-click the version selected by your view and click Hijack.
  3. Click OK.

Results

The selected files are marked as hijacked and become modifiable. If resource decorations have been enabled, hijacked files are decorated with the hijack decoration icon.
