        When you choose to work disconnected, actions that require a server connection are disabled and you are not prompted to connect when you attempt to perform them. You can work disconnected from a VOB server (in the case of a snapshot view) or from the VersionVault WAN server (in the cases of a web view or automatic view).

Creating a base VersionVault view

Use the VersionVault View Creation wizard to create a base VersionVault view.

About this task

The View Creation wizard automates the task of creating a base HCL VersionVault view.

Procedure

To create a base VersionVault view:

Click the icon on the VersionVault toolbar or select Create View from the VersionVault menu to start the View Creation wizard.
Perform one of the following actions:
- If you are creating a Web view or automatic view and the VersionVault WAN server that you want to use appears in the Select a server for your new view box, select it. If you are not connected to the server, click Connect, enter your login information, and click OK.
- If you are creating a Web view or automatic view and the server you want to use does not appear in the box, click Connect, enter the server URL and login information, and click OK.
  Note: If you are trying to connect to a VersionVault WAN server and you do not know the server URL to use, ask your project manager.
- If you are creating a Dynamic view or snapshot view, select the VersionVault Local node, which is a context for accessing VersionVault resources on the Local Area Network.
Select the Create a base VersionVault view option.
Click Next to display the Create a VersionVault view page.
Specify a view tag (and copy area path name if you are creating a web view) or accept the defaults and click Finish to create the view.

Results

The new view opens in the VersionVault Navigator.
