The mi_typename_to_typedesc() function
The mi_typename_to_typedesc() function creates a type descriptor for a data type, given the type name in LVARCHAR format.
Syntax
MI_TYPE_DESC *mi_typename_to_typedesc(conn, type_lvname)
MI_CONNECTION *conn;
mi_lvarchar *type_lvname;
- conn
- A pointer to a connection descriptor established by a previous call to mi_open(), mi_server_connect(), or mi_server_reconnect().
- type_lvname
- The name of the SQL data type, in LVARCHAR format.

Usage
The mi_typename_to_typedesc() function converts the name of the data type in the varying-length structure that type_lvname references into a type descriptor. For a list of SQL data type names, see the Informix® DataBlade® API Programmer's Guide.
Return values
- An MI_TYPE_DESC pointer
- A pointer to the type descriptor for the type_lvname data type.
- NULL
- The function was not successful; the type_lvname data type was not found.
