Automounting and NFS client software

Automounting and NFS client software

DevOps Code ClearCase® automounts NFS drives routinely, as required to satisfy requests to mount VOBs and start views. These network drive mounts are not persistent; they are released on logout if you do not release them sooner by deactivating the relevant VOBs or views with cleartool umount or endview. You can assign Linux or UNIX storage locations to persistent NFS drives to force predictable drive assignments (and DevOps Code ClearCase uses these drives instead of automounting).

You should not need to access an automounted NFS drive directly. DevOps Code ClearCase server processes use these mount points as necessary to access remote storage directories.

If your NFS client software can process UNC names directly, see the Enable automatic mounting of NFS storage directories option on the Options page of the DevOps Code ClearCase program in Control Panel. There is a performance benefit to disabling automounting when it is not necessary.
