Troubleshooting: Errors when you uninstall the fix pack from the WebSphere Commerce instance

NIFException error is logged when you are uninstalling the fix pack from a WebSphere Commerce instance.

Problem

Viewing the log file:
  • WC_installdir/logs/update/maintenance_name/uninstall/updatetrace.log
You see an error message similar to:

Solution

If you receive this message, the uninstallation removed the fix pack from the instance, but was not able to remove the backup files. To remove the backup files, complete the following steps:
  1. Remove the following file:
    • LinuxAIXWindowsWC_installdir/instances/instance_name/properties/version/update/backup/maintenance_name.pak
    • For IBM i OS operating systemWC_userdir/instances/instance_name/properties/version/update/backup/maintenance_name.pak
  2. Modify the following file:
    • LinuxAIXWindowsWC_installdir/instances/instance_name/properties/version/update/backup/NIFStack.xml
    • For IBM i OS operating systemWC_userdir/instances/instance_name/properties/version/update/backup/NIFStack.xml

    Remove the maintenance section from the NIFStack.xml file. An example of the section is shown here:

  3. WindowsModify the C:\Windows\.nifregistry file and remove the entry that contains the fix pack backup file for the instance. For example, you would remove the following entry:
