Updating the test case document: TestcaseTasks
TestcaseTasks lists common procedure steps that are used in the test cases. The common tasks are separated from the Test Cases so that procedure steps can be easily modified, shared, and maintained. Test cases reference this tab for steps that are listed in the Procedure column. You can update a single task to affect all related test cases. TestcaseTasks help you ensure that the testcase execution steps are consistent between testcases and any inconsistencies can be quickly resolved.
TestcaseTasks is divided into
two sections:
- Store Front tasks
- Commerce Management Center and WebSphere Commerce Accelerator tasks
Both sections contain groups of applicable tasks. Each task is contained in a separate table; making it easier to maintain the task list.
About this task
Each section contains the following columns:
- Step #
- For information purposes only. The numbering is not used to specify any particular order of the tasks.
- Procedure
- Each row lists a common procedure step that is used in testcase execution. These procedures are not in any specific order and can be referenced by the Procedure or Expected results column in any testcase.
Procedure
- Edit the Procedure text:
Option Description Alternative wording is preferred by testers, or changes to the UI require a task wording change - Scan the procedure text and update wording as needed. The change is reflected directly in all of the testcases that use the task.
New procedure task is needed for a new testcase - Add new testcases:
Option Description Tasks of the new testcases can be added to an existing Procedure table (in the case where the task can be grouped logically in one of the tables) - Add a row into the table that is the best logical location of the new task.
- From your new testcase in the Testcases tab refer to the newly added task.
The new task must be added to a new logical grouping - Use one of the already created tables under Store Front or Management Center and WebSphere Commerce Accelerator sections or create a table.
- In the table add a task description (on one row).
- From your new testcase in the Testcases tab refer to the newly added task.
