Installing WebSphere Commerce
This roadmap provides an overview of installing WebSphere Commerce.
Installing WebSphere Commerce using the custom installation
A custom installation allows you to select various components to install on one machine at a time. To install different components on different machines, perform a WebSphere Commerce custom installation on each of the machines in your configuration. A custom installation does not create your WebSphere Commerce instance automatically. You must create the instance after installing WebSphere Commerce and its software stack.

Preparing for a custom installation
A custom installation will proceed more smoothly if you have prepared for it by determining your site topology, software stack, and have performed the necessary system preparation.

WebSphere Commerce installs DB2 Database by default. If you want, you can use an existing installation of DB2, or you can use an Oracle database.
Using Oracle database
If you are performing a custom installation of WebSphere Commerce, you can use an existing Oracle database installation.
Installing and configuring Oracle 11g database
Use the following instructions to install and configure Oracle 11g database for use with WebSphere Commerce.
Configuring Oracle 11gR2 with 32-bit WebSphere Application Server
If you plan to use a 32-bit WebSphere Application Server with Oracle 11gR2 on a 64-bit AIX, Linux, or Solaris operation system, you will need to manually update the system library path to complete the configuration.

Configuring Oracle 11gR2 with 32-bit WebSphere Application Server

If you plan to use a 32-bit WebSphere Application Server with Oracle 11gR2 on a 64-bit AIX, Linux, or Solaris operation system, you will need to manually update the system library path to complete the configuration.

Before you begin

Procedure

Manually update the system library path.
- In the following files:
  - non_root_user_home/.profile
  - WC_installdir/bin/wcnonroot.sh
  - WC_installdir/bin/setenv.sh
  change the value of the LIBPATH variable to oracle_home/lib
- Make the following changes:
  - In export/home/non_root_user/.profile change the value of the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable to oracle_home/lib
  - In WC_installdir/bin/wcnonroot.sh change the value of the DBDIR variable to oracle_home
  - In WC_installdir/bin/setenv.sh change the value of the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable to oracle_home
- In the following files:
  - non_root_user_home/.profile
  - WC_installdir/bin/wcnonroot.sh
  - WC_installdir/bin/setenv.sh
  change the value of the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable to oracle_home/lib
- In the following files:
  - non_root_user_home/.bash_profile
  - WC_installdir/bin/wcnonroot.sh
  - WC_installdir/bin/setenv.sh
  change the value of the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable to oracle_home/lib
