Using Oracle database with WebSphere Commerce
The following table shows the configurations that are possible. Depending on your desired combination of WebSphere Application Server JVM bit, your operating system kernel bit, Oracle version and choice of a local or remote Oracle server, you may need to have a different application server and database topology.
WebSphere Application Server | Operating System kernel | Oracle version | Oracle connection |
---|---|---|---|
64-bit | 64-bit kernel | 11gR1, 11gR2, or 12cR1, or any higher fix packs | 64-bit client to connect to remote Oracle server (64 bit or 32 bit) |
64-bit server, locally | |||
32-bit | 64-bit kernel Linux/Unix | 11gR1 | 64-bit client to connect to Oracle Server (64 bit or 32 bit) |
64-bit server, locally | |||
32-bit kernel Unix | 11gR1 | 32-bit client to connect to remote Oracle server (64 bit or 32 bit) | |
32-bit kernel Linux | 11gR1 | 32-bit server, locally | |
64-bit Windows | 11gR1 or 11gR2 | 32-bit client to connect to remote Oracle server (64 bit or 32 bit) | |
32-bit client to connect to local 64-bit Oracle server | |||
32-bit Windows | 11gR1 or 11gR2 | 32-bit client to connect to remote Oracle server (64 bit or 32 bit) | |
