BitLocker Key Requirement & Consideration
On BitLocker-encrypted endpoints, disabling UEFI Secure Boot alters the TPM platform integrity measurement and may trigger a BitLocker recovery key prompt. Have the 48-digit BitLocker Recovery Key available before beginning any WDAC recovery procedure, and be prepared to temporarily suspend BitLocker protection during boot configuration changes.
BitLocker Recovery Key Requirement
Disabling UEFI Secure Boot changes the platform integrity state measured by the TPM and may cause BitLocker to require the recovery key. On BitLocker-protected devices, the applicable 48-digit BitLocker Recovery Key should therefore be available before performing the recovery procedure.
BitLocker Consideration During Recovery
Depending on the recovery procedure and platform configuration, BitLocker protection may need to be temporarily suspended during recovery to allow the required boot configuration changes. Once recovery is complete and UEFI Secure Boot has been re-enabled, resume BitLocker protection to restore the normal security posture.
