To access files from a snapshot view

About this task

You can access files from a snapshot view using a command shell or, on Windows systems, using DevOps ClearCase® Explorer. Recall that when you create the view, one version of each element specified by a load rule is copied into your view.

To access the files loaded into a snapshot view using a command shell, open a shell and change to the root directory of the view. For example, if the following command creates the snapshot view, the files in the view are located in the ~/pat_v1.4_cropcircle_sv directory:

cleartool mkview -tag pat_v1.4_cropcircle_sv -snapshot ~/pat_v1.4_cropcircle_sv

On Windows systems, to access files from a snapshot view using ClearCase Explorer, use the view shortcut by following these steps

Procedure

  1. In the ClearCase Explorer Shortcut pane, click Views. Then, click General or the page on which the shortcut to the snapshot view resides.
  2. Click the shortcut for the view.
