Guidelines for locating view storage directories for disconnected use

In all the configurations recommended for remote use, the view storage directory is in a server storage location. In DevOps Code ClearCase®, this configuration is ideal (and, on Windows® systems, in the case of a removable storage device, this configuration is enforced) because DevOps Code ClearCase® performance relies partially on the communications ability of various DevOps Code ClearCase® server processes. If you connect to the network from a remote location, you can improve DevOps Code ClearCase® performance if the view_server process for your view communicates with VOBs through a LAN instead of a modem.
