DevOps Code ClearCase® provides two clients for software developers: local and remote. Each client supports different mechanisms for accessing source-controlled filesystem objects. Both clients provide graphical and command-line interfaces.
Team software development with ClearCase®
DevOps Code ClearCase® provides configuration management services that make it easy for development teams to work with resources in a shared repository. With the ClearTeam® Explorer, developers can access DevOps Code ClearCase from a variety of network connections, including broadband (WAN) and traditional local area networks (LANs). The ClearTeam Explorer also supports WAN access to Rational® ClearQuest® user databases.

      If you are running in a WAN environment, the DevOps CCRC WAN server provides the ClearTeam® Explorer with access to DevOps Code ClearCase® repositories and support for DevOps Code ClearCase web views and automatic views.
    - About connecting to servers and user databases
      You must connect to a CCRC WAN server to create a ClearCase® web view or automatic view or to perform certain operations within such views, and you must connect to a ClearQuest® user database to access and modify information in ClearQuest repositories. A single sign-on preference can be set so that ClearCase and ClearQuest login information is saved across sessions.

      Versioned Object Bases, or VOBs, are ClearCase® repositories that are hosted on a DevOps Code ClearCase server.

      A DevOps Code ClearCase® view provides access to resources in DevOps Code ClearCase repositories.

About the ClearTeam® Explorer for Eclipse

The ClearTeam® Explorer for Eclipse integrates DevOps Code ClearCase® with Eclipse team services.

The ClearTeam® Explorer for Eclipse provides all the features of the ClearTeam® Explorer and extensions that enable you to use DevOps Code ClearCase® as a team services provider when working in the Eclipse workbench environment. When you use the ClearTeam® Explorer for Eclipse:

A ClearCase® perspective is available in the Eclipse Open Perspective dialog box.
ClearCase® operations are accessible from the Eclipse Team menu.
ClearCase® label decorations are visible in workbench views.
ClearCase® search is available from the Eclipse search dialog box.
Name patterns specific to DevOps Code ClearCase® are added to the list of resource name patterns that Eclipse can be configured to ignore when considering resources for addition to source control.
A special set of preferences controls how ClearCase® operations interact with Eclipse tools.
Eclipse projects and team project sets can be exported to ClearCase® from an Eclipse workspace or imported from a DevOps Code ClearCase® repository.
