DevOps Code ClearCase® provides two clients for software developers: local and remote. Each client supports different mechanisms for accessing source-controlled filesystem objects. Both clients provide graphical and command-line interfaces.
Team software development with ClearCase®
DevOps Code ClearCase® provides configuration management services that make it easy for development teams to work with resources in a shared repository. With the ClearTeam® Explorer, developers can access DevOps Code ClearCase from a variety of network connections, including broadband (WAN) and traditional local area networks (LANs). The ClearTeam Explorer also supports WAN access to Rational® ClearQuest® user databases.

      You must connect to a CCRC WAN server to create a ClearCase® web view or automatic view or to perform certain operations within such views, and you must connect to a ClearQuest® user database to access and modify information in ClearQuest repositories. A single sign-on preference can be set so that ClearCase and ClearQuest login information is saved across sessions.
    - About VOBs and versioned objects
      Versioned Object Bases, or VOBs, are ClearCase® repositories that are hosted on a DevOps Code ClearCase server.

      A DevOps Code ClearCase® view provides access to resources in DevOps Code ClearCase repositories.

About Rational® ClearQuest®

You can use the ClearTeam® Explorer to run ClearQuest® queries and to view and edit ClearQuest® records.

The Rational ClearTeam Explorer allows you to access ClearQuest® databases, run ClearQuest® queries, and to view and edit ClearQuest® records.

Access is provided through the ClearTeam Navigator by connecting to a ClearQuest® database. Once you have connected to the ClearQuest® server and accessed a ClearQuest® database, you can locate and run ClearQuest® queries. The results set of the queries appear in the ClearTeam Details view. You can select a results set row and view and edit the associated ClearQuest® record in the ClearQuest Details view.

Note: If you are using the DevOps Code ClearCase® UCM integration with ClearQuest®, you can also connect UCM activities to ClearQuest® records, create ClearQuest® records, and automatically transition the states of the ClearQuest® records.
