Moving categories

You can move a child category to a new parent category in the master catalog for example, if you are getting rid of a category or find that the child category is better defined under a new parent.

Procedure

  1. Open Commerce Lab Tools and from the left navigation menu, click Business Tools > Catalog > Master Catalog.
  2. From the explorer filter, click Master Catalog.
  3. Select the parent category on the explorer tree.
  4. Perform one of the following steps:
    • Right-click the parent category; then click Show Subcategories. Drag a child category from the list view to the new category on the explorer tree. The child category is reassigned to the parent category.
    • Right-click the parent category; then click Open. Click General Category Information and scroll to the Parent section. To add a new parent click the Show Utilities View icon Show Utilities View. Browse for the new parent and drag it to the Parent table.
    • Select a category from the explorer view and drag it to the Parent table.
  5. Click Save; then click Close.
