Free gift with the order

The Free Gift with the Order promotion allows eligible customers to select a free gift when their order meets specific criteria. This documentation outlines the user experience in the storefront, focusing on the customer's interaction with the promotion.

Pre-requisites

The Free Gift with Order promotion type is configured in the Management Center tooling. See Creating a web activity to advertise a promotion for detailed setup instructions. The storefront supports the features required for the promotion, such as displaying a list of gifts for selection:
  • Customer Experience Flow
  • Shopping and Eligibility
Before processing, the following conditions must be fulfilled:
  • The promotion type must be set up in the Management Center tooling.

Shopping and Eligibility

Customers add items to their cart while shopping on the storefront. When the order meets the specified criteria set in the promotion, the customer qualifies for the Free Gift with Order promotion.

Promotion Notification

Upon meeting the criteria for the promotion, a notification appears in the shopping cart informing the customer of their eligibility for a free gift. The notification includes a message such as "Congratulations! You are eligible for 1 Free Gift promotion."

Selecting the Free Gift

Directly below the items in the shopping cart, the eligible free gifts are displayed. The section for free gifts includes:
  • Free Gift Promotion.
  • Select one gift from the following options.
    Note: This can be configured to allow for more than one gift selection.
  • Gift Options: Displays available free gifts with a short description, title, retail value, and an option to remove the gift if selected.
  • Customers can choose their free gift by clicking the Add button next to the desired item.

Adding the Gift to the Cart

Once a gift is selected, it appears in the shopping cart labeled as Free Gift under the product image thumbnail, while the retail value is displayed in its usual place. Customers can remove the selected gift by clicking the Remove this gift button.

Finalizing the Order

The free gift is shown in the cart summary and confirmation email without any associated cost, emphasizing that it is complementary.

Example

Spend Over $100: Customers spending over $100 can choose a free mirror as a gift. For example, when your order total exceeds $100, you can choose between an accent mirror or a framed mirror.
