In a large development organization, you might want to create a common central repository so that you can set up and manage multiple identical development environments.               If you do not have any previous feature pack installed on the development environment, you can install the required fix pack and feature pack using IBM Installation Manager.

                WebSphere Commerce recommends installing the latest version of WebSphere Application Server 7.0, as it becomes available. The WebSphere Application Server test environment in the development environment must be upgraded to match that of the WebSphere Commerce server environment if it has been upgraded to the latest version.

                Use this task to download the feature pack and fix pack packages, then add the repository locations to Installation Manager.

              • Installing WebSphere Commerce Developer fix packs

                You can install WebSphere Commerce Developer fix packs using the IBM Installation Manager that you used to install WebSphere Commerce Developer. WebSphere Commerce fix packs should be installed and then tested. Fix packs contain fixes that correct known problems.

                In the development environment, you can install feature packs using the IBM Installation Manager.

        WebSphere Application Server announced the end of service for WebSphere Application Server V7 and IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, Version 6. To reduce the risk of security exposures and to ensure that you can continue to apply future WebSphere Application Server and Java-related fixes, install Version 8.5.5. Version 8.5.5 includes IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, Version 8.

Installing feature packs interactively on WebSphere Commerce Developer Version 7.0.0.0 or higher

If you do not have any previous feature pack installed on the development environment, you can install the required fix pack and feature pack using IBM Installation Manager.

Before you begin

  • The machine on which you are installing must meet all hardware, software, and network prerequisites.
  • Stop any applications running on your machine.
  • Log on as a user with Administrator privileges.

Procedure

    1. Updating the IBM Installation Manager
      You can update IBM Installation Manager without uninstalling any packages you have already installed.
    2. Applying fixes to Rational Application Developer or Rational Software Architect
      Use the IBM Installation Manager to apply fixes to Rational Application Developer or Rational Software Architect.
    3. Upgrading to a newer WebSphere Application Server version using Installation Manager
      WebSphere Commerce recommends installing the latest version of WebSphere Application Server 7.0, as it becomes available. The WebSphere Application Server test environment in the development environment must be upgraded to match that of the WebSphere Commerce server environment if it has been upgraded to the latest version.

      Use this task to download the feature pack and fix pack packages, then add the repository locations to Installation Manager.
