Creating a new user

Creating a new user in BigFix SaaS user management application involves a series of steps to ensure proper access and security.

Before you begin

The User Manager app is visible only to administrators. Ensure you are logged in as an administrator to access this app.

About this task

First, an administrator logs into the user management dashboard. From there, the admin selects the option to add a new user, which typically prompts a form requiring essential details such as the user's name, email address, and role within the organization. Once the information is submitted, BigFix sends a confirmation email to the new user with a link to login, set password, and complete the account setup. This process ensures that the new user has access to appropriate features and resources while maintaining security protocols.

To create a new user, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Accessing the User Manager
    1. Log in to BigFix SaaS as an administrator.
    2. To navigate to the User Manager section, click Apps and click User Manager.
    3. On the User Manager page, ensure Users tab is selected and click + on the toolbar.

  2. Entering User Information: In the Create User popup, enter the user's first name, last name, email address, and confirm email. Click Next.
  3. Assigning Roles: The roles determine the BigFix SaaS applications and the devices the user can access. Select a role for the user from the available list and click Next.
  4. Summary:
    • Verify user email ID, role, and application access.
    • Read the information about welcome mail and the password security requirements.
    • Click Create.

Results

User is successfully created. Upon BigFix SaaS account creation, the user receives a welcome email with the log in link and temporary password. When logging in, the user can set up a new password.

What to do next

  1. Using the credentials sent through email, log in to BigFix SaaS application.
  2. When you log in for the first time, it prompts you to change the password. Enter a password according to the password rule, confirm new password, and click change password.
  3. After the password is changed, it redirects to the log in page. Once the user logs in, the dashboard is displayed.
