Managing a custom site

From the site detail page, you can review site properties, add custom content, manage device subscriptions, and delete the site.

Before you begin

You created a custom site. For more information, see Creating a custom site.

You must be a BigFix UI user who is bound to a master operator to edit a custom site, manage device subscriptions, activate or deactivate analyses, or delete a custom site.

About this task

You perform these tasks on the site detail page. For a description of the page header, the panels, and the tabs, see Site detail page.

Procedure

  1. Go to Explore > Sites.
  2. Optional: Use Filter or the Search by site name box to find the site.
  3. Select the site name to open the site detail page.
  4. Perform any of the following management tasks:
    TaskAction
Review site properties Select Site details to open the Site details panel and review the site name, type, ID, version, creation date, and description. Select the close icon to close the panel. See Site details panel.
Edit the site description Select the edit option in the page header and update the description of the custom site. The change applies immediately. You cannot change the site name or type after you create the site.
Note: The edit option is available only for custom sites.
Add custom content Select Add custom content and complete the Create fixlet wizard. For more information, see Adding custom content to a site.
Deploy content On the Fixlets tab, select one or more Fixlets, and then select Deploy. See Fixlets tab.
Activate or deactivate analyses On the Analyses tab, select an analysis name to open its details page, and activate or deactivate the analysis from there. Activation is global, so the change applies to the whole deployment. The Activation and Activated by columns show the current state. See Analyses tab.
Manage device subscriptions On the Subscribed devices tab, select one or more devices, and then select Manage subscription. Device subscriptions use a flat list of conditions - property comparisons, device group membership, or a relevance expression - combined with ALL (AND) or ANY (OR) logic. Nested conditions are not supported. The conditions define a dynamic targeting rule, so any device that meets the criteria is subscribed automatically. Clients can take a few minutes to evaluate the criteria and report back. See Subscribed devices tab and Filter by query.
Delete the site Select the delete icon next to Site details in the page header, and confirm the deletion in the confirmation dialog. The delete option is available only for custom sites. For other site types, the option is disabled.
