Testing your Microsoft Entra ID connection

About this task

The first step is to test that you can successfully connect to Microsoft Entra ID. This section of the utility must be completed and verified before you can continue. To test your Microsoft Entra ID connection, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Enter the connection information.
    Client ID
    Defines the Client ID used to establish a connection to Microsoft Entra ID.
    Tenant ID
    Defines the Tenant ID used to establish a connection to Microsoft Entra ID.
    Secret
    This must be set to the secret defined for authenticating. You can enter a plain text or an encrypted secret. If you enter a plain text secret, you can encrypt it by clicking Encrypt Password.
    Note: When you click Encrypt Password, Secret Encrypted is automatically selected. If you enter an encrypted secret, you must also select Secret Encrypted.
    Secret Encrypted
    Determines whether the secret is treated as encrypted or not. If you select Secret Encrypted, the password is treated as encrypted and if you do not select it, the password is treated as plain text.
    Note:
    1. This option is automatically selected when you click Encrypt Password.
    2. If you enter an encrypted secret in the Secret field and deselect Secret Encrypted, the password is not decrypted. The password remains encrypted for security reasons.
    Azure Authority Host
    Specifies the Azure Authority Host to use. The value of the property is one of the following strings:

Results

If a successful connection is made to Microsoft Entra ID, Connection OK is displayed. If a connection is not possible, then Connection Error is displayed. Click the question mark for more details of what is causing the error.

After you have a successful connection to Microsoft Entra ID, you can then configure and test group and user search parameters.
