    You can use the properties files in Remote Control to customize your environment, configure Microsoft Entra ID or LDAP, set debug options, and set controller and on-demand target properties. The files can be edited in the BigFix® Remote Control Server UI.

    - How do controllers select a broker?
      Controllers select brokers by contacting them sequentially from a configured list and connecting to the first available one. If the target uses a different broker, the controller switches to match.
    - How do targets select a broker?
      Targets select brokers by connecting to all listed brokers in parallel and using the first one that responds. Custom selection logic can be implemented via PAC files to enable criteria-based routing.

  - Web Session Manager Configuration
    The Remote Control Web Session Manager service is automatically installed alongside broker support to enable browser-based Remote Control sessions. Configuration is managed via the trc_wsm.properties file.

    After installing broker support you can register the broker machines in the Remote Control server. When they have been registered you can view the list of brokers, edit the broker details and delete brokers that are no longer required.

    Use properties to determine what type of information and how much is written to the broker, gateway, and target component log files.

    The controller uses the proxy defined at system level by default. In some conditions, this may not be desirable. Creating a file named “override.proxy” in the controller install folder changes the default behavior and the system proxy is ignored

How do controllers select a broker?

Controllers select brokers by contacting them sequentially from a configured list and connecting to the first available one. If the target uses a different broker, the controller switches to match.

When an unattended session is started as described here, or a new broker session is started as described here, the controller will establish a connection to one of the brokers listed on the All Remote Control Brokers page. The brokers will be contacted in the same order as specified on this page. The first one that responds will be selected.

Note: If the target is connected to a different broker than the controller's broker, the controller will be notified and will establish a new connection to the broker selected by the target.
