Troubleshooting

Find procedures for collecting diagnostic data for Power Management support cases, enabling debug logging for the Wake-on-LAN Medic, and troubleshooting Wake-on-LAN issues.

Power Management Data Collection
Collect the following data for Support assistance on Power Management issues:
  • Power Management Health Checks dashboard: Expand all checks that have a status of either Warning or Failed, then copy and paste the results of each check into a Word/RTF document to send to Support.
  • Configurations for the BES Server Plugin Service (using the REST API) can be found in the registry here:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\BigFix\Enterprise Server\MFSConfig
    • Location of BESAggregatorLog: C:\Program Files (x86)\BigFix Enterprise\BES Server\Applications\BESAggregator
    • Location of MFS.log: C:\Program Files (x86)\BigFix Enterprise\BES Server\Applications\Logs
Enable Debug Logging for the Wake-on-LAN Medic:
  1. Open the file BESWoLMedic.xml under C:\Program Files (x86)\BigFix Enterprise\BES Server\Applications\Config
  2. Add -d into the command inside <command>...</command> tag. The command would look something like this:
    • "C:\Program Files (x86)\BigFix Enterprise\BESServer\Applications\BESWoLMedic\BESWoLMedic.exe" -besserver %BESHTTP% -r %RESTURL% -u %MOUSERNAME% -p %MOPASSWORD% -d
