Updating license server fingerprint

When you regenerate a fingerprint, the same fingerprint must be updated in the My HCLSoftware (MHS) portal. When you update the fingerprint, a new license file is downloaded that you must use for your license server.

Before you begin

You must have generated and saved the fingerprint. See Generating fingerprint.

About this task

A fingerprint is a unique identifier tied to the system or hardware where the license server is deployed. The fingerprint ensures that the license server is running on the intended hardware or environment. By using the updated fingerprint, the system can authenticate and verify that the license is being used on the correct server. If any changes to the hardware or system configuration occurs, such as replacing a device, server or upgrading components, the fingerprint must be updated to maintain the licensing compliance.
Note: In case of locked deployments, you cannot update the fingerprint with the allocated deployment. If you must, reach out to HCL support for assistance.

Procedure

  1. Select the Update License Server Fingerprint option from the deployment menu.
  2. Copy the new fingerprint in the Fingerprint field.
  3. Click Update and Download.

Results

The fingerprint for the LLS is updated and a new license server file is downloaded.
Note: After the license server fingerprint is updated, the previous license server file becomes invalid.

What to do next

You must add the downloaded license file to the license folder in your LLS installation. The license folder is located at the <lls_install_directory>/license path. See Installing HCL Local License Server.
