Configuring the security group

You can create a security group to add secrets for sensitive values used in Salesforce tests with HCL DevOps Test Hub (Test Hub) variables.

Before you begin

You must have completed the following tasks:
  • Ensured that you have a Test Hub project.
  • Ensured that you are assigned the Team Space Owner, Project Owner, or Member with a Tester role to create or edit a test resource.
  • Ensured that your project contains a Salesforce application.
  • Read and completed the task mentioned in Registering a TOTP authenticator for OTP-based sign-in.

About this task

You can use the Test Hub dashboard to select your project and configure the Security section, where security groups and individual secrets are stored for use by your tests. After you record or build a Salesforce test scenario, some steps require sensitive values, such as a password or a one-time verification code. Instead of entering these values as text in the test, you can refer to them by using variable syntax, such as ${Password} and ${Verification_Code}.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Test Hub.
    The Projects page of the initial team space is displayed.
  2. Click My projects > project_name to open the project that contains the Salesforce application.
    The Overview page of the project is displayed.
  3. Click Manage > Security.
  4. Click + Create Security Group, and then enter a name for the security group

    The Create Security Group dialog is displayed.

  5. Enter a name for the security group.
    For example, MySecrets.
  6. Click Create.
    The security group is created.
  7. Click + Add Secret.
  8. Optional: Enter Password in the Identifier field, if you want to mark it as a secret.
    Note:
    Ensure that the name entered in the Identifier field matches the variable name used in the recorded test.
  9. Enter the Salesforce account password in the Value field.
  10. Click + Add Secret to add the Verification_Code secret.
  11. Paste the extracted otpauth:// secret URI in the Value field.
  12. Click Create.

    The OTP secret is added to the project-level security group.

Results

You have configured the initial test environment by creating a security group and adding the secrets required for the test.
