Creating a dataset for credential mapping
You can create a dataset that contains the credential values for multiple users, so that HCL DevOps Test Hub (Test Hub) can resolve the appropriate values when the dataset is used with a recorded test.
Before you begin
- Read and completed the task mentioned in Configuring the initial test environment.
- Created a dataset. SeeCreating a dataset.
About this task
You can create a dataset that contains the credential values for multiple users. Test Hub uses the dataset to associate each user's credentials with the corresponding values when the dataset is used to configure a recorded test.
Procedure
-
Log in to Test Hub.
The Projects page of the initial team space is displayed.
-
Click to open the project that contains the test assets.
The Overview page of the project is displayed.
-
Click .
The Data page is displayed.
-
Select the branch in the project repository from the
Branch list.
The assets and resources in the selected branch are displayed in the data navigator panel.
-
Perform any of the following actions:
- Click the Action Menu icon
and select
Dataset. - Right-click the application in the data navigator panel, select .
The Edit Branch dialog is displayed.
If the Edit Branch dialog is not displayed, then go to step 7.
- Click the Action Menu icon
-
Select your action to either select an existing Edit branch or create an Edit
branch:
- Perform the following steps to select an existing Edit branch:
- Select Use an existing edit branch.
- Select an Edit branch from the Select branch list if
Edit branches already exist for your repository.Note:A warning message is displayed if the Edit branch, which you selected, is behind the source branch. To update the selected edit branch and maintain synchronization with the source branch, you can select the Update branch option when switching checkbox.
- Click Ok.
- Perform the following steps to create the Edit branch:
- Select Create new edit branch.
- Enter a name for the Edit branch in the Branch Name field.
- Click Save.
The Create dataset dialog is displayed. - Perform the following steps to select an existing Edit branch:
- Select the application, select the location, and enter a name for the dataset, such as UserOTPAuth.csv.
- Click Next.
-
Select Create an Empty dataset as the source and click
Create.
The empty dataset is created and displayed on the Data page.
-
Enter the required data in the dataset. For example, add columns for
Username, AuthUrl,
Password, and Verification_Code and add a
row for each user.
Note:The dataset created is used later to provide credential values for the Salesforce automation users when configuring the recorded test.
-
Optional: Encrypt sensitive columns by right-clicking a column and selecting
Encrypt column data to encrypt the column.
The encrypted data is stored securely. Select Decrypt column data to view the original values when needed.
Note:Ensure that the variable names match the corresponding dataset column names if the test configuration requires matching names. -
Click the Save icon
to save the dataset.
Results
You have created a dataset containing credential values for multiple users. The dataset can be used to provide credential values when configuring a recorded test.
