Licensing

HCL DevOps Deploy (Deploy) provides a 60-day license-free evaluation period. You must have a license to use all product features after the evaluation period.

Unless you provide the location of a license server when you install Deploy, a 60-day evaluation period begins when you install the product. During the evaluation period, you can use all product features. A message on the web-based UI displays the number of days that remain in this period.

After the evaluation period, you can access Deploy to view and edit items but you cannot run deployments. You need a license for the agents in which you want to run the deployments. You can apply for a license at any point in time.

Note: Relays do not require any additional licenses.

HCL licensing

HCLSoftware offers My HCLSoftware (MHS) as a software license manager. The MHS portal has utilities to acquire and return licenses for Authorized and Authorized zOS agents. The licensing capabilities of MHS also provide the two important details:
  • Maximum number of authorized licenses
  • Maximum number of authorized z/OS licenses

An organization identifies one of its resources as a License Manager (also called Tech or Portal Admin) who is familiar with the language of licenses. The license manager is responsible for following the instructions in the document to activate entitlement, create deployments, and download the software from the portal.

Note: For information about HCL licensing, see HCL Licensing documentation.
Notes:
  • You must migrate to the HCL licensing system for continuous license support.

The FlexNet licensing system is deprecated and removed from 8.0.1.3 onwards. All existing customers can continue to use FlexNet licensing until June 2025.

  • You must upgrade to 8.0.1.3 or a later version to configure Deploy to use an HCL license server.
