Installing and using z/OS® Extensions
z/OS® Extensions is a component of IBM® Rational® ClearCase® that enables mainframe users to perform select DevOps Code ClearCase operations. z/OS Extensions include Remote Build, TSO Client, and ClearCase RAM (CCRAM).
Automating builds with parameterized build scripts
Parameterized build is a script-based, sample-driven approach to automating Remote Build scripts. It provides you with sample scripts that you can use as a starting point for developing your own approach to automating Remote Build scripts. These sample scripts are provided as-is and require customization and alteration before they can be used in your z/OS® Extensions environment.
Using the parameterized build sample scripts
You can use the parameterized build sample scripts from the ClearCase® or Windows® explorer, UNIX® command line, TSO Client, or Rational® Developer for System z® or Eclipse platforms.

Using the parameterized build sample scripts, you can submit your z/OS® files for compiling, linking, or uploading to the mainframe from the ClearCase® Explorer or Windows® Explorer.

        Use the Compile parameterized build request to submit a COBOL program to the mainframe for compiling.

        Use the Upload Copy Member to Host parameterized build request to upload modified copybooks to the mainframe before submitting a compile request.

        Use the Submit Link Job parameterized build request to submit a link job to the mainframe.

Installing parameterized build menu items

Before you begin

Parameterized build provides menu items for the ClearCase® Explorer and the Windows® Explorer. DevOps Code ClearCase® users can select these menu items to compile, upload, or link their COBOL files. The parameterized build context menu items for ClearCase® Explorer and for Windows® Explorer are shipped in the files compileCC.reg and compileWin.reg. Before you can install these menu items in the ClearCase® Explorer or Windows® Explorer, a DevOps Code ClearCase® administrator needs to customize, test, and distribute these files to ClearCase® users.

Contact your DevOps Code ClearCase® administrator for the location of the customized registry files.

Procedure

To install the parameterized build menu items in the ClearCase® Explorer and Windows® Explorer, do these steps.

Obtain the location of the customized registry files from your DevOps Code ClearCase® administrator.
To install the parameterized build menu items on ClearCase® Explorer, run compileCC.reg.
To install the parameterized build menu items on Windows® Explorer, run compileWin.reg.
