Create a ClearCase UCM development view/environment
Create or specify a development stream and a development view in which to work on UCM project activities.
This dialog box can be accessed by using the Join Project wizard or by right-clicking on an existing development stream and selecting Create View.
Before you create a UCM view, you must specify a stream to which it will be bound. Use this dialog box to specify a development stream that will be bound to your UCM development view. You can create a new stream or use one that already exists. If you opened this dialog box by right-clicking on an existing development stream and selecting Create View, then the view that you create is bound to that stream.
If you have joined a single-stream project, all of your work on the project takes place in an integration view, so you do not need to create a development view or specify a development stream. The integration stream is bound by default to the integration view that the Join Project wizard creates. You can accept the default or choose a different stream to which completed activities will be delivered.
Controls in the dialog box
The following controls appear in the dialog box:
Control name | Control description |
---|---|
Set up a Development Stream | By default, this is selected and you must specify a development stream and associated development view. If this option is cleared, neither a development stream nor a development view is created when you click Finish. Note that this option is only available if you are using the Join Project wizard. |
Stream name | Specify the name of the development stream. |
Stream Options | Opens a Stream Options dialog box in which you can accept or edit the default comment, choose an existing stream, or make the stream read-only. Note that this option is only available if you are using the Join Project wizard. |
Create a Development View | By default, this is selected and you must specify a view tag and copy area for the development view. If this option is cleared, a development view is not created when you click Finish. |
View Type: Automatic | Select this option to access your project through an automatic view. This option is not active if you selected the ClearCase Local node as your ClearCase® server on the previous page. |
View Type: Web | Select this option to access your project through a Web view. This option is not active if you selected the ClearCase Local node as your ClearCase server on the previous page. |
View Type: Dynamic | Select this option to access your project through a new Dynamic view (only for Local Area Network environments). This option is not active if you do not also have the native ClearCase client (the "thick" client) installed on your machine in addition to ClearTeam Explorer. |
View Type: Snapshot | Select this option to access your project through a snapshot view (only for Local Area Network environments). This option is not active if you do not also have the "thick" client installed on your machine in addition to ClearTeam Explorer. |
View tag | Specify a view tag to serve as a unique, descriptive identifier for the view you are creating. The view tag must be unique within its network region. By default, in a Web view the View tag name is the same as the final subdirectory of the Copy area path name. If you edit this field, the Copy area path name directory also reflects the changes you make. To set this field to a name that is different from the copy area directory, you must edit the Copy area path name. |
View Options | Opens the View options dialog box in which you can specify a
view text mode. A view text mode controls how line terminations are handled when text files are
loaded into the view. The view text mode can be set to LF or CR-LF. In conjunction with the client
machine operating system, this setting is used to help determine the correct default text mode view
creation. To select a different text mode, click View Options. Note: If you
change the view text mode arbitrarily, documents edited by you and others may become corrupted.
|
Copy area path name | The full path name to the copy area for a Web view. The copy area is a local directory into which resources under ClearCase control are loaded from the CCRC WAN server, and from which you can add new resources to ClearCase. A default path is provided. To create the copy area in a different local directory, type the path name to that directory, or click Browse to navigate to a folder to use. Note that when you change the copy area, the View tag does not automatically reflect the change. This option is not active if the currently selected View Type is Dynamic, Automatic, or Snapshot. |
Browse | Opens a file system browser in which you can navigate to and select a folder to use for the copy area for a Web view. |
Drive Letter | You can use this option to map your new view to a Windows drive. This option is only available if the currently selected View Type is Dynamic or Automatic. (The default drive for a dynamic view is M:; for an automatic view, it is R:.) |
Back | Returns to previous screen. Note that this option is only available if you are using the Join Project wizard. |
Next | Proceeds to the next screen. Note that this option is only available if you are using the Join Project wizard. |
Finish | Creates the specified development view. If you are using the Join Project wizard, clicking Finish also creates the specified development stream and the suggested integration view. |
Cancel | Cancels the operation. |
