Specifying parameters for a trend chart

Trend charts show historical information about change requests.

About this task

To specify the parameters for a trend chart:

Procedure

  1. Click Query > New Chart.
  2. In the Choose Record Type window, select a record type and click OK.
The first page of the HCL Compass Chart wizard opens.
  3. On the first page of the HCL Compass Chart wizard, select the Trend Chart option and click Next.
  4. On the Parameters page, specify the fields to display along each axis of the chart. In the Horizontal Axis (time) section, specify the time period to chart:
    1. In the Start date and End date fields, enter the start and end dates, respectively, of the chart. Alternatively, click the button next to the fields to open a calendar window from which to select these dates.
    2. From the Interval list, select a time interval.
  5. In the Legends section, define the legend fields:
    1. In a trend chart, Field 1 is always defined as the State field. Click Select States to open the Select Values window and select one or more values to include in the legend. Then click OK.
    2. Optional: To include a second field in the legend, select a field from the Field 2 list.
Tip: To display all the record fields in the Field 2 list instead of only the fields in your Favorites folder, select the Show All Fields check box.
    3. Optional: To sort the legend on Field 2, select a sort order from the Sort list.
  6. In the How to Count section, define how the totals will appear by selecting either the Show state transitions in each time period option or the Show totals in each time period option.
If you select the Show state transitions in each time period option, you can also show the accumulated totals for each time period by selecting the Show cumulative counts check box.
