Installing HCL Commerce Developer by using the IBM Installation Manager
You can install HCL Commerce Developer by using the graphical installation program.
Before you begin
- Ensure that the machine on which you are installing HCL Commerce Developer meets all prerequisites. For more information, see Setup prerequisites for an HCL Commerce Developer Legacy environment
- Installing or updating the product to a later version is a
processor and memory intensive operation. Your machine can become unresponsive for
extended periods of time, during which you may observe applyUpdate.bat
consuming large amounts of system resources.Note: Allow sufficient time for the install or update process to complete as the applyUpdate.bat progress indicator can remain at 99% for up to two hours on less powerful machines.
- Stop any applications that are running on your machine.
- Disable any Web server that is on your machine.
- Ensure that you are logged on as a user with Administrator privileges.
- Download and extract HCL Commerce Developer.
- Login to HCL License and Delivery portal.
- Download the eAssembly for the latest version of HCL Commerce Developer. For more information on the latest available package for HCL Commerce Version 9.1, see HCL Commerce releases.
Procedure
- Open IBM Installation Manager.

Add the HCL Commerce Developer repository locations:
- From the Start page, click Install. The IBM Installation Manager searches its defined repositories for available packages.
- Select the HCL Commerce Developer Version 9.1.x.0 package and then click Next.
- View the license panel carefully. Select I accept the terms in the license agreements, and then click Next.

Choose an installation directory or use the default directory, C:\WCDE_V9.
Note: Do not specify a directory that includes whitespace, periods ("."), or dollar signs ("$").
- Select the languages that you want to install. The default is English. After you select you languages, click Next.
- Select the 9.1.0 feature and the HCL Commerce toolkit feature, and then click Next.

Select the HCL Commerce Developer edition to install; Enterprise or Professional.
Note: Install the edition of HCL Commerce Developer that matches your edition of HCL Commerce.
- Click Next.
- Confirm all information and click Install.
- After the installation completes, a Summary page is displayed. In the success message, a link to the IBM Installation Manager log is provided. Click Finish.

Check that the WCDE_installdir/bin/setenv.bat sets the
RAD_HOME
environment variable to RAD_installdir correctly.If the variable is set correctly, then the installation was able to properly detect Rational Application Developer on your system.Note: You might notice java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to aquire PluginConverter service during generation errors in the setupPlugins.log file. You can safely ignore these errors.
