Setting up value added tax (VAT) configurations

You can use the tax tool in HCL Commerce Accelerator to configure the additional configurations that are required to set up value added tax (VAT). These configurations are in addition to the default tax settings.

Procedure

  1. Ensure that the store profile for the store that you are using is set to the correct jurisdiction.
    1. Open Management Center
    2. Navigate to Manage Stores and open the store for which VAT setup needs to be confirmed.
    3. Ensure that the store location and contact information data match the jurisdiction where you intend to apply tax calculations.
  2. Register the default fulfillment center for your store. Add the default fulfillment center ID into the STORE.FFMCENTER_ID field by using an SQL command.
  3. Set up taxes at a store-level using HCL Commerce Accelerator. For more information, see Setting up taxes.
  4. Assign different tax codes to different catalog entries or categories. You can assign a sales tax code to one or more categories or to one or more catalog entries. The taxes then apply to the specific catalog entries or to all catalog entries within the specific categories that are assigned the tax code.
You can set up VAT rates of 13% for food products and 15% for electronics products by defining two sales tax codes and then assigning each code to the appropriate category.
    1. Define the sales tax codes by using the tax tool in HCL Commerce Accelerator and then assign the tax codes to the appropriate catalog entries or categories. For more information about defining the tax codes with the tax tool, see Defining sales tax codes.
    2. Assign the tax codes to catalog entries or categories by populating the appropriate database table or tables with the data entries to map the codes to the catalog objects. You can manually add the entries to the appropriate table using SQL commands or with the Data Load utility. For catalog entries, such as products, add the entries to the CATENCALCD database table. For categories, add the entries to the CATGPCALCD table.
Note: If you use the Data Load utility to populate the tables, configure the utility to use the following business object mediator:
