Interim fixes and cumulative interim fixes
A WebSphere Commerce interim fix (iFix) is a software patch that contains fixes for one or more APARs. A WebSphere Commerce cumulative iFix is a comprehensive collection of interim fixes for a specific release. Both types of fixes are installed with the WebSphere Commerce Update Installer (UPDI).
Note: A cumulative iFix is a fully tested, downloadable package that includes all of
the individual iFixes that have accumulated since the release of a feature pack or fix pack. These
packages are designed to simplify installation and standardize the code level of an environment. All
additional iFixes that are released after the cumulative iFix are tested and verified on the latest
code base. Therefore, if a cumulative interim fix exists for your feature pack or fix pack level,
then you need to install the latest cumulative interim fix before you install any additional
iFixes.
Attention: IBM is aware that
some interim fixes that were released for Feature Pack 5, Fix Pack 6, and Fix Pack 7 might cause
issues when you install the fixes individually. As a result, IBM bundled the interim fixes and
released the following cumulative interim fixes:- For Feature Pack 5 (JR53048.fep)
- For Fix Pack 6 (JR53048.fp)
- For Fix Pack 7 (JR53048.fp)
Each individual iFix and cumulative iFix package contains a different
readme file. Each readme file might include specific
installation instructions. For example:
- Some iFixes might require manual modifications to source code after you install the fix
- For runtime environments, some iFixes might be applicable to the base WebSphere Commerce product only and not the instance.
Note: IBM intends to continually deliver cumulative interim fixes for Feature Pack 8
and Fix Pack 9. Cumulative interim fixes are planned to be released once a year. IBM continues to
support all feature pack and fix pack levels by delivering individual interim
fixes, but does not plan to deliver any more cumulative interim fixes for
versions earlier than Feature Pack 8 and Fix Pack 9.
