Access control problems are often indicated by generic application errors with error message keys such as _ERR_USER_AUTHORITY. The first step in problem determination is to enable tracing for the access control component.
WebSphere Commerce uses the JSTL (Java Server Tag Library) to create new JSP pages. This enables a Web developer to create a Java page without having to worry about the underlying code, while a Java developer can write the code simultaneously, or at a later period. Unfortunately, dynamic caching cannot execute the JSTL <c:import> tag on its own.
If you encounter problems when you are managing or displaying catalogs, refer to the troubleshooting information to help determine the problem and find possible solutions.

Access control for the IBM Gift Center is defined in the GRUSERAUTH database table, under the GIFTREGISTRYID, PASSWORD, and TYPE columns. A use will not be granted access if a relationship is not set. The access control policies must define each role's access level for a gift registry. For example, a gift registrant may have different access levels from a co-registrant, and this relationship must be defined in the access control policies.
When an exception occurs deep in the service layer, an ECException is thrown up the stack. The GiftRegistryComponentServiceImpl catches all non-runtime exceptions and processes them. If the ECException is not an ECApplicationException, then the exception is simply converted into a ServiceException and thrown to the WebSphere Commerce calling commands to handle. If the thrown exception is an ECApplicationException, then GiftRegistryComponentServiceImpl converts this exception to a confirm BOD and returns it to the calling command.
Adding trace statements to your code is helpful for problem determination outside of the development environment.
When enabling IBM Gift Center on Windows 2000, you encounter an "The input line is too long" error message.
You cannot create a GiftRegistry on the migrated environment.
When you perform a GiftRegistry search in a migrated environment, an exception is displayed.
After enabling IBM Gift Center, the default value of "EnableMQMessagesOnUpdate" is set to true. This condition causes an exception to be thrown in the SystemOut.log file. This exception does not affect the normal functionality of the Gift Center.
