11.0.3 Steps to perform the continuous discovery

The topic provides the steps to perform the continuous discovery.

About this task

When continuous discovery is disabled, perform the below steps to enable the process:
  1. Stop previous Upload Software Scan action.
  2. Run the Upload Software Scan Results fixlet with the Continuous Discovery Processing flag enabled.
  3. Select the target endpoints as required.
Note: Make sure that the Enable Continuous Discovery Processing parameter is enabled.
To disable the continuous discovery processing, perform the below steps:
  1. Stop the Upload Software Scan Results actions which had the Continuous Discovery Processing flag disabled
  2. Run the new action without flag checked.
  3. To disable the processing, set the Enable Continuous Discovery Processing to false.
Note: To manage Upload Software Scan actions, you can use ‘Dynamically target by property’ with ‘By Group' option and have two Computer Groups - one for running action with enabled Continuous Discovery Processing and the other one for disabled. This will help to ensure that none of the endpoints is targeted by two kinds of actions.
Note: The Advanced Server Settings provides two parameters: Enable Continuous Discovery Processing and Continuous Discovery Processing Interval. Enable Continuous Discovery Processing enables the default continuous discovery process. Continuous Discovery Processing Interval allows you to define the interval of the continuous discovery processing.
