FEATURE WALKTHROUGH

A feature walk-through is a guided tour within in the Web client that helps new users learn how to use key features. It simplifies the user experience by providing clear, step-by-step instructions, making it easier to get started, avoid errors, and explore important functions. This improves onboarding, builds user confidence, and increases overall engagement.

Record Navigator

The onboarding tutorial can be recorded by providing a Recording Name. During the recording, a popup will appear wherever you click on the screen.

You can enter a Title and Description for each clicked element to describe the specific field. After entering the details, click Next. The system will automatically capture the element ID of the clicked item and save it along with the Title and Description in JSON format.

If recording on a green screen, the popup will also display the row and column values of the clicked position. To end the recording, click the End button. This will navigate to the Download Navigator popup where the recorded data can be accessed.

Download Navigator

It will display the file name, creation time, last edited time, and actions. Under Actions, there are two icons: Edit and Download. "Download" icon will export the file in JSON format, which can be shared with inexperienced users. They can upload it to the Local Recording section, play it, and easily understand the workflow of the feature. Clicking on Edit icon under Actions, will open a panel where the JSON can be edited. At end when we will click on Done button, it will save the recording.

Play Navigator

The Play Navigator has the following three tabs:

  • Session Recording - This type of recording is the one that is saved in the session library while recording. The recordings will be presented in the session, on the server side. To play a session recording, click on the play icon under Actions.
  • Server Recording - This type of recording is the ones that are stored in the central repository created by an Admin to access HOD sessions. The Server records can be played from any type of client or session. To play server recording, click on the play icon under Actions.
  • Local Recording - This type of recording is the one that is present in the client machine. To play a local recording, click "choose file" to browse and import the recording from the client machine and then click on the play button. When you click "Play", the onboarding flow begins by retrieving the HTML element IDs from the JSON file. It then highlights each element step-by-step, displaying the associated title and description. This guided walkthrough helps users clearly understand the purpose and functionality of each part of the interface, making it easier to navigate and use the application effectively.

Edit Navigator

A list of all saved recordings is displayed in a table. Each row shows details like file name, creation time, last edited time, and actions.

Click the Edit icon under the Actions column. This opens a JSON editor panel where you can view and modify the contents of the selected recording.

Make your changes directly in the editor.Click Save to update the recording.

Click the Delete icon next to a recording to remove it from the list.
