Proxy Settings for Integration Service
To add an Integration Service Environment when the proxy is set at an App Server level, enable the following proxy settings at the JVM level:
-
Dvoltmx.http.proxyHost= 10.0.4.29
-
Dvoltmx.http.proxyPort= 2080
-
Dvoltmx.http.proxyUser= websphere
-
Dvoltmx.http.proxyPassword= 3MqGU9e5nv3B
Note: Proxy settings values provided above are only for examples, should be used as per the configuration.
Network Settings Licensing
If the on-premises Foundry server has outbound access to the HCL Cloud License Server, please use the Cloud License Server. Otherwise, set up the HCL Common Local License Server in your own network. You can use your HCL Software ID to download the installer for the HCL Common Local License Server from the MHS Portal (https://my.hcl-software.com/downloads/voltmx/foundrycurrent), along with set-up instructions for Linux and Windows.
If you use the local license server, the Foundry server must have access to that license server. In a production environment, you should sync your license server with the HCL Software site at least monthly.
Configuring Connection Timeout for Foundry
The default connection timeout for on-premises Foundry has been set to 60000 milliseconds (60 seconds). You may need to adjust this timeout to be longer. This can be achieved by modifying the system property configuration.
Modifying the Connection Timeout :
To change the connection timeout, you need to set the FOUNDRY_OUTBOUND_CONNECTION_TIMEOUT system property. This can be done by adding -DFOUNDRY_OUTBOUND_CONNECTION_TIMEOUT parameter to server startup parameters.
Note : This connection timeout is only for business adaptors, for technology adaptors like java, java script services there won't be any impact changing FOUNDRY_OUTBOUND_CONNECTION_TIMEOUT parameter.
Gateway Request Timeouts
The Volt MX Cloud Gateway is configured with a default request timeout of 60 seconds. If a request does not receive a response within this timeframe, it will time out. This default setting can be extended to 180 seconds by submitting a cloud support ticket.
MCP Server prerequisites (optional component)
Complete these steps only if you plan to enable the MCP Server. Skip if MCP will not be installed.
- Application server — Select the bundled Tomcat or bundled JBoss option during installation. MCP is not supported with WebSphere, WebLogic, or externally managed Tomcat/JBoss.
- HTTPS — Configure Foundry to use HTTPS. The MCP Server refuses to bootstrap against a plaintext HTTP Foundry base URL.
- Python 3.12 or 3.13 — Install CPython in the 3.12.x – 3.13.x range on the target machine.
- Linux: install via the OS package manager (for example,
python3.12) or from python.org; ensurepython3.12(orpython3.13) is onPATH. - Windows: install from python.org and select Add python.exe to PATH in the installer.
- Linux: install via the OS package manager (for example,
- pip on the same interpreter — Verify pip is bound to the same interpreter:
Both commands must succeed and report the same 3.12.x or 3.13.x version. On Linux you may need to install
python --version python -m pip --versionpython3-pip(orpython3.12-pip) via the OS package manager. - Port 9093 free — Ensure TCP port 9093 (or your chosen
MCP_PORT) is not in use and is opened on the host firewall for the clients that will connect. - (Optional) Redis — If you plan to use Redis for MCP state, install and start Redis, and record its URL in the form
redis://:password@host:6379/0.
Scope reminder:
- MCP is supported only with the bundled Tomcat and bundled JBoss application servers. It is not available with WebSphere or WebLogic, and is not supported on external / pre-existing Tomcat or JBoss installs.
- The MCP Server requires HTTPS on the Foundry base URL.
- The target machine must have Python 3.12 – 3.13 with pip on the same interpreter (
python -m pip --versionmust succeed and report the same version). - MCP is never auto-selected. It must be explicitly enabled.
