Using access manager logs
The access manager and secure access manager have files that log messages about the communication between the SafeLinx Server and the access manager. They also log messages between the SafeLinx Administrator and access manager. The access manager passwords are in-the-clear in the message log file when the operation run involves a password change.
The access manager message log file is wgmgrd.log. To view these files, log in as root to the access manager system. These files are in /var/adm/ on Linux. On Windows, these files are in the installation directory under logs\. To change the default location use the SafeLinx Administrator:
- Double-click the Access Manager on the Resources tab.
- Click the Logging tab.
- Edit the Log file field for the location of the access manager log or the SSL log file for the location of the secure access manager.
You can reset the log files to rename the old files and begin new ones. The renamed files have the date appended to the log file name. If there is more than one reset on a day, a timestamp is appended to the file name. To reset the log files:
- Right-click the Access Manager on the Resources tab.
- Click Reset log files.
- Choose whether to reset all files or individual files.
If another SafeLinx Administrator session is attached during the reset process, that session continues logging to the backup copy of the log file. The session does not reset wgmgrd.log file. Also, the backup copy cannot be deleted from the file system until all other SafeLinx Administrator sessions end. This process is only applicable on the SafeLinx Server for Windows.
