Data Backup — A Critical Step
Note: It is of paramount importance to back up all application
data prior to initiating any upgrade or rollback operation.
Helm manages your application deployment but doesn’t automatically handle the state or data in databases or persistent volumes. Upgrades, especially major version changes, may include irreversible database schema migrations. If an upgrade fails or you roll back after a schema migration, the rolled-back application code may become incompatible with the migrated database.
CAUTION: Failure to back up your data will likely
lead to permanent data loss or system corruption if the operation fails.
If you skip backups and the upgrade fails, you risk permanent data loss.
Refer to the Backup section of the Link documentation for steps to back up all persistent data, including PostgreSQL/MongoDB and Redis.
