Publish Batch Segments

This topic explains how to publish batch segments using the HCL CDP Marketing Automation Platform. It also covers the underlying logic for building effective segments.

You can select the user profile attributes and schedule them to send the segmented user data to Amazon S3. To publish batch segment data, follow the steps below:

  1. Publish the Segments:
    1. In the HCL CDP Landing page, on the left pane, click Segments.

      OR

      In the Unica Platform Landing page, on the left pane, click Central > Segment Central > Re-targeting Segment.
    2. On the Segments page, select the batch segment in draft status, and click View Segment Details.
    3. If required, update the segment logic, and click Save& Publish.
  2. Define Engagement:
    1. On the Engagement tab, click + Add Engagement.
    2. In the General Information section, enter a unique name in the Engagement Name field.
    3. In the Path field, enter the folder path (e.g., foldername/filename.csv) where the CSV file should be saved in the S3 bucket.
      Note: If you do not defined a path, the file is saved to the default path, displayed in UI, with the name segmentexport.csv.
    4. In the Field Mapping section, you can define the demographics and event attributes to publish.
    5. Click the Demographics tab, and select attributes to publish. Click the > icon to move them to the Original Field vs Custom Field section.
    6. Similarly, click the Events tab, select an event from the drop-down list, and then select the attributes to publish. Click the > icon to move them to the Original Field vs Custom Field section.
    7. (Optional) In the Original Field vs Custom Field section, edit the names in the Custom Field column to customize the headers in the exported CSV file.
    8. Click Save to create the engagement.
    9. Then, click Actions > Publish to schedule the profile publish.
  3. Schedule Engagement for Publishing the segments:
    1. Hover over the engagement, and click the Schedule icon.
    2. In the Start Data &Time field, click the Calendar icon and select a forward date.
    3. Select hours, minutes and am/pm to set the schedule starting date and time.
    4. To set up a recurring export, select the Repeat checkbox and configure the following:
    5. Frequency: Set the schedule to run daily or weekly.
    6. Day: Select the days to run the schedule only on those days.
    7. End Date: Specify a date to stop the recurring export.
    8. Click Schedule. The segment data will be exported as a CSV file to the configured S3 bucket.
