Installing
To install HCL Docs, complete the following procedures in the sequence shown.
Installing the HCL Docs components
You can run theHCL Docs GUI Installer or use the scripts to install the components.

If you do not want to use the installer to install the components, you can use the scripts.

Welcome to the HCL Connections Docs 2.0.1 documentation, where you can find information about installing and deploying HCL Docs 2.0.1. HCL Docs is a collaborative productivity suite that enables you to work on documents, spreadsheets and presentations together in the cloud.
- Overview
  HCL Connections™ Docs extends HCL Connections, offering real-time, co-editing support designed to help users collaborate on documents together.
- Planning
  Before installing HCL Docs, review the system requirements and deployment options, and then complete the worksheets.
- Installing
  To install HCL Docs, complete the following procedures in the sequence shown.
  - Pre-installation tasks
    A series of pre-installation tasks must be completed before you can deploy the HCL Docs infrastructure. These tasks include installing the system prerequisites and configuring both Windows™ and Linux™ operating systems.
  - Installing the HCL Docs components
    You can run theHCL Docs GUI Installer or use the scripts to install the components.
    - Installing the HCL Docs components using the installer
      To install HCL Docs, run the IBM Installation Manager installation program on the system where the WebSphere Application Server is installed and a node is federated into the Deployment Manager.
    - Installing the HCL Docs components using the scripts
      If you do not want to use the installer to install the components, you can use the scripts.
      - Adding Docs Nodes, Conversion Nodes, Deployment Manager and web server into Job Manager target list
        Before installing the components of HCL Docs, you must add Docs Nodes, Conversion Nodes, Deployment Manager and web server into Job Manager target list.
      - Installing the Document Format Conversion Application
        Perform these steps on ONLY the Document Format Conversion Application host, not the Deployment Manager.
      - Installing the Editor Application
        HCL Docs uses a response file to silently install from the command line.
      - Installing Viewer Application
        The Viewer Application component can be installed into the Connections node or its own node within the Connections cell. Note that you only need to install File Viewer on one of the nodes in the cluster as this makes all the config and other install files available to any additional File Viewer node in the cluster. The File Viewer can also be installed from the WebSphere® Deployment Manager node. If this is installed from the Dmgr, ensure that node has access to the viewer_share.
      - Installing the Editor Extension for Connections
        Perform the following steps on the deployment manager server or one of the HCL Connections servers. If installed from the deployment manager, ensure each of the nodes has access to the Connections Provisions directory.
      - Installing Editor Proxy Filter
        The Editor Proxy can be installed either from the Deployment Manager or from one of the HCL Docs Proxy server nodes.
      - Installing the Viewer Extension on Connections
        Perform the following steps on the Deployment Manager server or on one of the HCL Connections servers. If installing from the Deployment Manager, ensure that the node has access to the Connections provisions directory.
      - Installing as a non-root or non-admin user
        Non-root users (Linux™) or non-administrative users (Windows™) can install HCL Docs and other components. Users must follow this procedure to grant sufficient permissions.
    - Installing HCL Docs in another cell rather than Connections
      Perform the tasks in this section to install HCL Docs and Connections in two different cells.
    - Special cases for manually installing the extensions
      Installing the extensions and daemons was automated as part of the HCL Docs and File Viewer extension installation process since HCL Connections™ Docs 1.0.6. However, because the extensions and daemons must be installed on a server with access to the HCL Connections shared directory (where the provisions directory is located), there are some scenarios in which you must manually install the HCL Docs and File Viewer extensions and daemons, instead of relying on our script-based install to deploy these components.
  - Post-installation tasks
    These post-install steps are required after an installation or uninstall/install of HCL Docs. During an upgrade, these changes are preserved so do not need to be repeated during the upgrade process.
  - Uninstalling HCL Docs components
    You can use the installer or use uninstall scripts to uninstall HCL Docs automatically.
- Upgrading or migrating
  You can upgrade HCL Connections™ Docs from the previous two releases to the current release by using the installer or upgrade scripts. You can also install the latest release on new hardware and then do a side-by-side migration from the old to the new.
- Security
  You might need to refer to this section during deployment. HCL Docs supports WebSEAL. This section is for setting up single sign-on (SSO) if installing HCL Docs in the same cell as IBM® Connections.

- Troubleshooting and support
  To isolate and resolve problems with your deployment, you can use the troubleshooting and support information.

Installing the HCL Docs components using the scripts

If you do not want to use the installer to install the components, you can use the scripts.

Each procedure has the following basic flow: 1. Extract the installation files 2. Configure the cfg.properties file 3. Run the installer.

Before starting the installations, you must extract the DOCS_INSTALLPKG_FILENAME .zip file (for example, CNNCTNS_DOCS_2.0.0_WINLNX_ML.zip) and copy the native folder to each server. This folder contains the install packages for all of the HCL Docs components. The extraction steps for each component are as follows:

Create the directory to which to copy CNNCTNS_DOCS_2.0.0_WINLNX_ML.zip.
- Linux™: /opt/install/Docs
- Windows™: C:\install\Docs
Linux™ only: Change permissions on the HCL Docs directory:
chmod –R 755 /opt/install/Docs
Copy the following file into the newly created directory: CNNCTNS_DOCS_2.0.0_WINLNX_ML.zip.
Open a terminal window for Linux™ or double-click the file for Windows™.
Extract the contents of CNNCTNS_DOCS_2.0.0_WINLNX_ML.zip to the directory.
- Linux™: Unzip -d /opt/install/CNNCTNS_DOCS_2.0.0_WINLNX_ML.zip
- Windows™: Extract files into C:\install\Docs
Note: To install HCL Docs using the scripts, you only need the native folder after you extract the CNNCTNS_DOCS_2.0.0_WINLNX_ML.zip file.

At the beginning of the installation of each component, you might be asked to complete multiple pre-check actions. Completing these actions helps to ensure the proper installation of the component.
